We enjoyed a highly interactive discussion on the hot topic of Carbon Credit with our guest speakers:
Jari Ovaskainen, principal at Preon Capital – the family office of one of the most successful business angels in Europe; and
Zhiliang Li - CEO of Carbon Credit Token (CC Token) - a blockchain-based sustainability initiative that aims to bring the world’s largest carbon market to Web3. In less than six months, the company has become one of the most traded tokens in Algorand ecosystem.
Jari had his first unicorn in 1999 with lobox, sold to Telefonica for €230m in cash – the largest Finnish VC exit at the time. His fame peaked when he seeded the gaming firm Supercell that was acquired by Tencent in 2016 at the stellar valuation of $10.3b.
In 2014 he invested in Advanced Accelerator Applications (AAA), a nuclear-medicine spinoff from CERN, acquired in 2017 by Novartis for $3.9b. In the same year he had his most recent exit with the highly successful IPO of the Finnish gaming company Next Games at Nasdaq FNH.
