around the SailGP weekend in St Tropez

A fantastic action-packed weekend with our members in St Tropez around the Sail Grand Prix in September.

 

On Friday night we hosted a glamorous LTC party at Les Parcs de Saint Tropez with our members and specially invited guests from SailGP – also featuring interviews with sailing experts, Olympic racing champions and a fascinating discussion on new technologies in sailing. Our panel included the legendary Pip Hare – the eighth woman in the world to finish the Vendée Globe Race in a solo 95 day round the world race;  SailGP Chief Purpose Officer Fiona Morgan as well as David Palmer, Bernoulli | Locke founder and CEO of the first fan-based SailGP team. 

 

On Saturday we took our members to watch the world's most exciting racing on water – the SailGP race on catamarans flying at thrilling speeds of just under 100 km per hour. This was followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of the team bases led by Saskia Clark MBE - British Olympic Sailing Gold and Silver Medallist, Rolex World Sailor of the year - who explained the intricacies of the competition and the complex construction of the foiling catamarans. Congratulations to the Emirates Great Britain team for winning the overall event!

 

We completed the weekend with a boat tour to neighbouring towns on two Frauscher motorboats, watching the race from the sea on our way back.
