Education in the Age of AI with special guests Jim Steyer, Bruce Reed and Lord Ed Vaizey
at The British Academy

06 February 2025

An  evening of insightful conversation – from the role of technology in education and shaping our society, to its wider role in the current political landscape in the US and beyond.

A special thank you to our fantastic speakers,  stopping in London en route to the Paris AI Summit:

Jim Steyer -  one of the most respected experts on issues related to children, education, media and technology in the US and Founder and CEO of Common Sense Media - the leading nonpartisan source of entertainment and technology recommendations for families and schools. Common Sense Media distributes its content to over 100 million US homes via partnerships with Time Warner Cable, NBC, Netflix, Google, AOL, Sky Cinema and many more. An award-winning professor at Stanford, book author and expert commentator, Jim frequently appears on national networks.

Bruce Reed –  former White House Deputy Chief of Staff to President Biden and top policy adviser in the Clinton and Obama administrations, working on a host of domestic and social policies, including education, crime, gun safety and welfare reform.

The event was moderated by  Lord Ed Vaizey - member of the House of Lords,  business adviser and broadcaster, and former UK Culture and Digital Minister. In this role,  he was responsible for the roll out of the successful rural broadband programme to over 4 million homes, the introduction of 4G, and tax credits for film, television, animation and video games, which helped make the creative industries the fastest growing part of the UK economy.
